What is PyritePyritez?

PyritePyritez is an avant-garde guitar/steel guitar instrumental* band.

* "Instrumental only", to date.
That's not to say that we don't have lyrics for some of our stuff...we do. But so far we have only released (since 2020), essentially live recorded guitar 'demos', & not full band multi-track mixed versions of our songs (notwithstanding some very early synth stuff done in 2019).
Full band version releases of PyritePyritez songs will follow later when we have a bit more of an established discography. We've got to write the stuff first...& yeah, the pandemic.

PyritePyritez Alternate Tunings

PyritePyritez is renowned for creating & using its own custom-developed alternate proprietary guitar tunings, in a similar manner that Hawaiian slack key guitar artist's tunings were historically closely guarded 'proprietary' family secrets, literally.
We'd tell you, but then we would have to...well, you get the drift, lol.

PyritePyritez Songwriting

PyritePyritez composes all of its own original material specifically crafted to highlight its custom guitar tunings, & has also released several 'PyritePyritezed' cover versions of popular songs that are already in the public domain in order to showcase our distinct guitar sound style in something familiar to listeners.
We don't hire songwriters for lyrics or music, nor purchase completed songs from other artists or songwriters...which may help to explain our somewhat slow musical output.

PyritePyritez Guitars

PyritePyritez largely specializes in the sounds that otherwise emanate from inexpensive, unwanted, broken, old, &/or abandoned guitars passed over by others, that are strategicaly selected, repaired, & restored by us for reuse.
We recognize that 'new & expensive' doesn't always equal quality, or necessarily buy the sonic characteristics in an instrument that appeals to us. Lots of expensive guitars these days are purchased by people based on brand, looks or influence rather than how they sound. We play our instruments, not look at them as investments or eye candy.

PyritePyritez designs its own graphics & album artwork in-house with a minimalistic primitive style optimized for mobile devices & fast recognizability on today's streaming-centric music platforms.

PyritePyritez' use of basic & inexpensive recording equipment, shortscale guitars, & renewable solar power was originally borne from the constraints dictated by the tight confines & harsh environment aboard a sailboat, which heavily influenced the PyritePyritez distinctive sound & musical style.
